An interesting piece of research claims to show the formula for the perfect web site.
The study by Rackspace shows the most important aspect of a site according to its visitors is ease of navigation, followed by the speed of page downloads, clear design and functionality of the site.
Sites that avoid using pop-ups, advertising and Flash are considered closer to perfection. Big-name sites that did well according to the Rackspace formula include the BBC, Google and Wikipedia.
The study reinforces the the point that web site creators should focus more on usability and accessibility rather than over-elaborate designs with distracting Flash and unnecessarily complicated navigation.
